New Cards Revealed for Next Disney Lorcana Set

It's fair to say that there's a lot of fans out there for Disney Lorcana trading card game by Ravensburger, with sellouts reported in stores around the world. As players are desperately looking to get the cards they want to complete their collections, news today has revealed some of the brand new cards we will see in their next set, Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn, releasing this November to local game stores with worldwide release on 1st December.

Which new characters will appear in Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn?

This Princess doesn't need anyone to save her, with the new Resist ability making Cinderella a phenomenal new win condition for your steel decks!

In a press release today by Ravensburger, they announced that "Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn features more than 200 new cards, each with stunning brand-new artwork. Fan-favourite characters like Disney’s Winnie the Pooh and Tiana appear for the first time in Disney Lorcana TCG, along with new Disney stories added to the lineup, including Disney’s “The Jungle Book,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Great Mouse Detective,” “Pinocchio,”  “Zootopia,” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.” All cards in this set can be played alongside cards from the debut set of The First Chapter and used to update existing Disney Lorcana TCG decks.

"Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floorborn also adds a new keyword, or game ability, to the Disney Lorcana TCG – Resist. The Resist keyword indicates how much additional damage characters may be able to withstand. For example, Resist + 2 on a character would mean any damage dealt to them is reduced by 2."

What is the story for Disney Lorcana?

Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn will give players a little more detail about the weird yet wonderful "Floodborn" characters; cards that show the characters we love, but in a very different way to how we've previous known them. 

It turns out that at the heart of the magical realm of Lorcana known as 'The Grand Illuminary,' an accident involving the six magical inks getting muddled caused chaos, empowering Disney characters in brilliant yet bizarre ways.

A lot of treasured lore was lost in the incident, with players (known as Ilumineers) now being tasked with recovering this precious lore, including such magical items as King Triton's Trident.

Another of the new cards announced, this rare Merlin card has the potential to be a big game winner, provided you can solve the mystery of getting characters to go back to your hand...

Ravensburger confirms "new sets for years to come"

Global Head of Games at Ravensburger Filip Francke shared how delighted everyone there has been with the warm reception to the new game and looks forward to continuing to release more Disney Lorcana for many years.

"The response to the release of the Disney Lorcana TCG has been astounding. The game has only been available for about a month, and fans are already eager for more.

"As we work diligently behind the scenes to meet current demand, we’re also planning incredible updates and new sets for years to come that we can’t wait to share. We’re excited to reveal a little more about what is coming this winter to expand the game and story for this year."

Limited Edition Disney100 Gift Set contents revealed

We also learned about the special gift set being released to commemorate 100 years of Disney, Disney Lorcana: Disney100 Edition. 

Each gift set is guaranteed to include six special promotional cards, printed with a satin holographic foil finish and a special printed version of the illustrator's signature. These cards are taken from both sets and include such fan favourites as The Genie, Elsa and, of course, Mickey Mouse.
