Don't use public transport, but do set up trains in your living room
The quiet story of gaming in lockdown has been the Print and Plays. Usually a printer, paper, scissors, sometimes a dice, and you’re ready to go! Of course you can be fancy and back them, but the core of it is the simplicity, and something that we can enjoy safely from the confines of our home. We’ve talked a lot about Print and Play’s, and we’ve even got a list of ones for you to take a look at.
Asmodee has particularly embraced the Print and play, creating a new site dedicated to those versions of some of its popular games. When lockdown began, it was a collection of around five games, those such as Dobble, and Dixit. Now, the collection stands at 29 games to play. Most are standalone, though a few are expansions to existing games.
The newest entry into the arena is the ever popular Ticket To Ride, with Ticket to Ride Stay at Home. It’s “designed during the great lockdown of 2020”, and is a quick new version that comes as an expansion – either to Ticket to Ride, Ticket to Ride Europe, Ticket to Ride Germany, or Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries.
You’ll be playing and tracking routes in the house, exactly as you are during lockdown. From the sitting room to the dining table to the desk, it’s a home friendly game. In addition, it’ll give you a new way to play, new areas, and a new kind of Route: The Family Route. You’ll claim one space on the family route as your turn, and then any number of spaces during the game, with one point for the turn. At the end of the game, if complete, every player can use this route for tickets!
You can check out the game itself over on Asmodee's site. If that doesn’t suit you, there’s plenty of games available from Asmodee that hopefully you’ll still find one you like!
