Runs until May 2nd

You can try the digital version of Jamey Stegmaier’s brilliant strategy game Scythe for yourself with the launch of a free beta on PC.

A faithful adaptation of the smooth dieselpunk game set in an alternate 1920s filled with mechs, the digital edition is due for a full release in the second quarter of 2018.

Ahead of the launch, publisher Asmodee Digital has released a free beta version on Steam that includes an early look at the tutorial, the solo mode against AIand the online lobby for multiplayer against other humans.

To get access to the beta, all you need to do is sign up for an account on Asmodee Digital’s website, then go to your profile settings, find the Beta Tests tab and press the button below Scythe: Digital Edition to receive a Steam key. Redeem that key via Steam and you’ll be in!

The beta is only available for Windows for the moment (sorry, Mac users), and runs until May 2nd.

Early feedback suggests that the digital edition is still very much a beta experience, with the AI and user interface still requiring quite a bit of polish before the final version hits screens. Still, if you’re hankering for a way to play Scythe for free, this is it!
