From board games and RPGs to miniatures and tournaments, the London convention is the place to be for UK gamers this weekend
Our very first convention, Tabletop Gaming Live, kicks off in London’s Alexandra Palace tomorrow morning – and we can’t wait for you to see what’s in store!
The Tabletop Gaming Live and Miniature Wargames teams have spent months putting together some of the biggest and best new blockbuster releases, old favourite and independent gems in one room for UK gamers and their families to play, buy and fall in love with.
We’ll be celebrating the official UK launch of Forbidden Sky, the latest entry in the co-op survival series from Pandemic creator Matt Leacock – you’ll be able to play it for yourself and then pick it up at the show.
Tabletop Gaming Live will also be one of the first places in the UK to play KeyForge: Call of the Archons, the innovative new card game from Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield that has billions of unique decks to discover.
There’ll also be Pandemic: Fall of Rome, the recently announced historical spin on the co-op favourite – you’ll be among the first people in the UK to get a chance to play the game for yourself.
And if you’re a Pandemic fan looking to win awesome prizes and compete for a spot in the world championships, don’t forget to sign up for the Pandemic Survival regional qualifier taking place at the show – you could win a place at the UK nationals!
If you prefer roleplaying games, there’ll be just as much to enjoy – including the new fifth edition of Vampire: The Masquerade, the long-awaited fourth edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and many, many mvore. Plus, we’ll be running sessions for Starfinder, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Star Trek Adventures, RuneQuest, John Carter and more over the two days – so you’ll never be short of adventures to have.
“What about miniatures?” we hear you ask. Well, you’re in for a treat. We’ll have the brand new Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and 2000 AD skirmish game Strontium Dog to play, alongside various other participation games such as Gaslands, Frostgrave, Sands of the Sudan, UFO and more. You can even build a free miniature to take home, if you’re looking to expand your collection.
Not only that, but we’ll also be hosting the very first UK Gunslingers Masters tournament for skirmish game Wild West Exodus, giving players the chance to win exclusive prizes and grab some goodies just for taking part.
That’s just one of several events happening over the weekend, from free-to-enter Kingdomino and King of Tokyo competitions to the first Intro Decks event for Game of Thrones: The Card Game, giving newcomers the chance to pick up the living card game and learn the ropes – while grabbing some fantastic swag, too, of course. Find out and more and sign up at the Tabletop Gaming stand, G82.
If you’re a more casual player just looking to check out some new games, there will plenty more participation games running in the Panorama Room, including a massive range of social and party games that anyone can jump into and enjoy, hosted by the lovely team from board game café Coffee & Dice.
Prefer to play your own games, or want to stick with your friends? No problem – our huge open gaming area will have loads of room for anyone to grab a game, sit down and play, whether it’s a new purchase from the show or something you want to sample from our free board game library.
We won’t just have the games – we’ll have the people that make the games! Our seminar area in the West Hall has two days full of interesting and entertaining talks, panels and workshops from designers, experts, personalities and the Tabletop Gaming team itself, from miniatures painting tutorials and Catan expansion play sessions to discussions of what games mean to us and how they’re made. Plus, see the Tabletop Gaming team record the first-ever live Tabletop Gaming Podcast at 1pm on Sunday! You can see the full schedule of live talks and seminars here.
Even with everything we’ve mentioned above, we’ve barely scratched the surface of what you can expect at Tabletop Gaming Live this year.
Plus, don't forget: if you're not already subscribed to Tabletop Gaming magazine (and you really should be – just look at what's in October's issue!), we'll be running a very special offer at the Tabletop Gaming stand (G82) to get three issues for just £5, plus a free goody bag of exclusive game promos and more worth a whopping £50. You won't want to miss it!
To see more of the games making their way to the London convention and find out more about everything else taking place this weekend, you can read our free show guide online here – or check out our pick of 27 games (and more) you need to play at the show from September's Tabletop Gaming magazine here, including new releases and announcements from Gen Con available to play for the first time in the UK.
Tickets can be purchased on the door at Alexandra Palace on both days of Tabletop Gaming Live – Saturday, September 29th and Sunday 30th – starting at just £10, with kids under 10 getting in for free to the family-friendly show.
It’s going to be an amazing time for everyone – we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
