You won’t have to wait as long for Vampire: The Masquerade 5e – and RPG Werewolf is also getting a new edition

White Wolf is going heavy on its supernatural roleplaying games next year, as Werewolf joins Vampire: The Masquerade in getting a new edition.

The fifth edition of Vampire was announced late last year, with White Wolf initially saying that the latest release would be out in winter 2018 and feature mechanics inspired by the concept of ‘you are what you eat’, plus alterations to the 25-year-old RPG universe.

Now, it looks like the game will be in your hands much earlier, with ICv2 reporting that Vampire: The Masquerade fifth edition has been pulled forward for a release date in the first three months of next year.

There’s also the suggestion that the world will be expanded by other games, including board, card and miniatures titles, for which the publisher is currently looking for designers.

Vampire isn’t the only property White Wolf is returning to – the company has confirmed that it will launch a new edition of Werewolf after Vampire 5e is out.

It’s not clear whether the upcoming Werewolf instalment will be an extension of the series’ Chronicles of Darkness resurrection as Werewolf: The Forsaken, which first appeared in 2005 and received a second edition ten years later, or a return to the 1992 original, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, which was discontinued in 2004 as a result of the move to what was then the New World of Darkness – although it did receive a 20th anniversary edition in 2013, making 2018 its 25th anniversary.

There’s also nothing solid on when we might see the new Werewolf – this new report simply suggests that it will follow Vampire’s release.
