Black Friday is just around the corner, with the sales event taking place on Friday the 29th of November, this year. As board game lovers, wargame obsessives, TCG fans, and RPG addicts, we’re always looking for a fantastic deal, and Black Friday should prove to be a huge event for those looking to get the latest and greatest titles at a fraction of the cost. We’re going to lend you a helping hand and show you how to navigate Black Friday in 2024, by highlighting some of the stores to visit and the likely places to search out the best offers.
Check Your Friendly Local Game Store
Before diving into these digital sales, we have to take a moment to mention the opportunities that may arise from visiting your local gaming stores. Black Friday isn’t just an online event after all, and industry-specific shops across the country will be offering up their best discounts. Be sure to research your closest retailer, and check out how they are planning for Black Friday.
However, in the spirit of supporting local, remember stores can't always match the huge clearance-style deals of other retailers. Even if your local store isn't running a Black Friday event, check out the stock and games on offer. You'll likely find they've got the perfect recommendations, and possibly even a chance to play it – and it's well worth considering that without postage fees, even games not on offer might work out cheaper...
Board Games on Sale
Firstly, you’ll want to check the well-known online retailers on Black Friday, to explore any easily-accessible offers. The likes of Amazon, Zatu Games, Waterstones, John Lewis, and other such big-name stores will all be offering their traditional Black Friday deals. And of course, you'll want to take a look at our digital edition deals!
If you're looking for a bargain, though it's not quite a Black Friday deal, it's actually even better – our 12 Days of Christmas deal gets you 12 gifts worth over £250 for £125!
Kienda
Kienda, meanwhile, will be expanding its array of weekly deals, with a host of great savings on brands and indie titles. We find Kienda have always had fantastic customer service and great deals too. Check out:
- Disney Dixit £32.95 (RRP £32.95)
- Dice Theme Park £29.97 (RRP £49.95)
- Cat in the Box £16.77 (RRP £27.95)
Zatu Games
Zatu Games in particular is already hosting Black November, with some titles gaining almost 80% off. There appear to have been mixed reviews for this retailer on Board Game Forums, but there's a good opportunity for deal finding. Some of our favourites include:
- Ticket to Ride Legacy: Legends of the West for £69.99 (RRP £99.99)
- What Next? for £23.99 (RRP: £40)
- MAD Pack O Game £4.29 (RRP £5.99)
Wayland Games
However, some of the other familiar stores that are dedicated to tabletop gaming are already highlighting the Black Friday deals they’ll be providing. Wayland Games, one of Europe’s largest independent retailers, will be offering between 20% and 80% off of a selection of popular titles. Some of our favourites include:
- Disney Lorcana Into the Inklands Gift Set: £18.19 (RRP £27.99)
- Star Wars Shatterpoint: Core Set £123.74 (RRP £164.99)
- Tiny Epic Kingdoms: £19.49 (RRP £27.85)
Osprey Games
Osprey Games haven't announced a Black Friday sale, but they have got a winter sale on at the moment which runs between 18th November to midnight on the 8th December, so still a chance to pick up a bargain!
- Undaunted Callisto 2200: £45.50 (RRP £65)
- Sankore: £52.50 RRP (£75)
- General Orders: World War II: £17.50 (£25)
Duelling Guard
It’s not just tabletop developers getting involved. Keep an eye on accessory builders and other such adjacent stores for more information on their Black Friday deals. Dueling Guard, a TCG accessory creator, has already launched deals on all products for instance.
Black Friday Board Game Deals We're Anticipating
Thirsty Meeples have offered fantastic sales in the past, and are likely to do so again on Black Friday, while Magic Madhouse will probably follow suit and expand upon its current run of discounts as they have done previously for the event. Asmodee Studios often have Black Friday sale to consider which incorporates their many studios, such as Fantasy Flight Games, while Modophius made a splash in prior years with its offerings. Steamforged Games have also got a holding page where you can sign up to be the first to know about their deals. Drive Thru RPG and Humble Bundle have also offered digital sales in years past!
Of course, the behemoth that is Amazon will likely have a number of deals too – in previous years we've seen sales on the likes of Pandemic, Horrified, and numerous Big Potato games, so we'll expect to see similar this year too.
Ultimately, keep your eyes peeled for all the options available on the big day, and we’ll keep you up to date on the latest Black Friday announcements and deals in the coming weeks so that you can get the products you need for a perfect game night.
