Have a Dungeons and Dragons player in your life in need of a perfect gift? Look no further, we've compiled a fantastic list of brilliant present options, whether you know your Beholders from your Barbarians or your D12s from your D10s...

Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) players are everywhere, and buying them something from the hobby when it comes to birthdays and Christmas is a guaranteed win. No matter your budget, we've found some of the best gifts that will have them thinking you have a proficiency in gift buying – no knowledge required!

D&D Bag

Starting with a luxury item, roleplaying bags are beautiful and incredibly useful to players who play in person. Essentially, they're bags specifically made with the needs of a roleplayer in mind, so you may find some of them have specific places to put D&D books, or may have dice storage, or even miniatures storage. Although not everyone will be in the habit of taking so much RPG things with them to each session, this means that you could... or that you'd simply now have somewhere nice to store them.

We like the look of the Enhance Range, which offers separated compartments and protective pockets.

Dice

Dice are an easy and perfect gift for an RPG player, because (and this is a hill I will die on) you can never have too many dice. Dice to match your character, dice to match your genre. Dice because they have fun things inside them, dice because your last dice were cursed. There's a whole world of dice out there, so how do you pick the best ones? We'd recommend one of the following three categories:

Handmade Dice

Not all dice are created equal, and although the majority will be made from resin, dice makers have experimented with different kinds and different forms. Whether that's dice that have liquid cores, or sharp edges, they're not your usual run of the mill dice. You'll also find ones made out of different stones, or gems, which open up the opportunity to match these to the person you're buying for.

These dice tend to be handmade and so err on the pricier side, but are arguably well worth it. Thornless Rose and Dark Moon Dice are two creators who make gorgeous pieces.

Unusual Dice

Dice that are a bit different, or a touch more unusual are popular for RPG players, as dice are such an integral part of play, that a new novelty within them is always enjoyed. My own D100 dice (which is a spherical dice kind of like a golf ball that allows you to roll up to 100 on the die) has been highly sought after, but other great gift options include ones you can hide in a keyring or ones which roll in a unique way.

Funny Dice

D&D is a fun hobby at the end of the day, and silly dice can be part and parcel of it. From duck dice to Santa dice, there are tons of options that you can pick to suit your recipient – whether it's an inside joke, or just something for fun. We've bought Wedding-themed dice as a gift in the past, which has gone down a treat. You can find these in many different places, but for more hobbyist fun dice, try Q Workshop

Dice Guardian

Dice Guardians by RachMakes

Dice Guardians are a delightful development from Dice Jails. When you're playing a game of D&D, how you roll feels personal – this dice feels cursed, as it always rolls badly, or this dice is blessed because it rolls well, etc. Admittedly, in some cases dice aren't balanced, but it's much more fun to think people can't roll well. That's how Dice Jails started – a space to put the dice that are misbehaving so they can think about what they've done be separated from the group. Dice Guardians are cute holders for your dice, usually a D20, that we've taken to using for dice that are rolling well and deserve the high life.

For the Queen

For the Queen is a story telling card game – which is essentially a roleplaying game in disguise. Players have been tasked with protecting the Queen on a perilous journey, and answer questions about their relationship with the Queen until a certain card is drawn – the Queen is in danger, do you defend her? You might think it's a simple question, but the previous prompts are so beautifully opportunistic for more in depth exploration of the relationship, that prompts you to uncover the nuances of a potentially troubled relationship. You never know where the story will take you, and it's a fantastic way to play an RPG with zero prep, just a box of cards. We all know the pitfalls of a D&D group is almost always the ability to commit to an evening, and this acts like a zero prep one-shot that can be pulled out for a number of players with no notice. Plus – it's absolutely stunning.

Behold!

Where's Wally (or Waldo, for our American counterparts) is an institution, but not enough people know that there is also a Dungeons & Dragons version of it, called Behold! Search for everything from Beholders to magical items, it seems like a small fun gift – but you'd be surprised at how drawn in you get!

D&D Cookbook – Heroes Feast

If you've got the D&D player who has everything, check out Heroes Feast, a recipe book of D&D inspired meals and snacks that are everything a budding adventurer would want to see on the table. The hidden benefit of this is that any D&D evenings hosted at the recipients house will now have an upgraded themed menu.

D&D LEGO

Slightly harder to get hold of now, but D&D's run of LEGO makes for a fantastic gift. There seems to be an overlap in those of us who love building worlds and new stories, and building cool things out of little bricks, and so the partnership between D&D and LEGO was frankly overdue. With the 50th Anniversary, and the film on the horizon, it seemed the best time, and so we get to benefit from seeing our loved world be immortalised on our shelves. A nicer, more engaging option than something premade – and can double up as a setting or mini for the game itself!

A Subscription

Dropout is one of our favourite recommendations for RPG fans, because it's essentially a nerdy Netflix, full of Actual Plays as well as improvised comedy, plus shows like Um, Actually which test knowledge on a certain subject. The core team of intrepid heroes are GM'd by Brennan Lee Mulligan, with other series by Aabria Iyengar, Matt Mercer, and more. Alternatively, a premium subscription to something that's used regularly is useful for D&D specifically – Roll 20, D&D Beyond, or the like!
