Disney Lorcana is going from strength to strength, and if you’re considering tumbling down Alice’s rabbit hole and into the world of this trading card game, you’re going to benefit from understanding how rare your Disney Lorcana cards might be. Whether you play them, or just collect them, knowing more about your collection is always a must. So what does enchanted even mean?
How to find the Disney Lorcana Rarity on your card
If you’re familiar with the anatomy of the Disney Lorcana cards, you’ll note that beneath the text box explaining what your card can do, and offering a little flavour, at the very bottom in the centre is a coloured symbol. This symbol shows how rare your card is within the printing, going through Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, to Enchanted.
As a quick tip, you can tell how rare your card is from the number of sides on the symbol – the circle has only one side, making it the most common, but the six sided emblem for the Enchanted cards puts them at the hardest to find. This works mostly for the other cards too, with the only exception being the white book, which is uncommon.
Common Lorcana Cards
Common Disney Lorcana cards are identifiable from their grey circle, starting us off with a single side. In a booster pack, you'll find six of these. They can make decent cards for competitive play, but are rarely sought after by Collectors.
Uncommon Lorcana Cards
The white book-like shape tells us when a card is considered uncommon, and each booster pack you open will contain three of these.
Rare
Whilst rare always feels a little bit of a misnomer in trading card games, as they're not all that hard to find (two cards in every pack are either Rare, Super Rare, or Legendary), they can make for some competitive cards. You can figure out if your Disney Lorcana card is a rare card from the triangle shape.
Super Rare
Super rare cards are a step up from the rare cards, and can be identified with the grey/silver diamond.
Legendary
Legendary cards can be found by identifying the gold pentagon.
Enchanted
Enchanted Cards are the hardest cards to find, and are the most sought after. You can figure out if your card is Enchanted not only from the rainbow hexagon symbol, but also from the artwork – as Enchanted cards offer a full art piece, taking away the border and using colours in keeping with the artwork. If you open a pack and find a card especially beautiful, it's probably an Enchanted card!
Promo
There are other cards and symbols worth recognising however, especially if you're looking to collect the trading card game, and promo cards tend to be the most sought after. You can usually tell these from the two gold overlapping quarter circles, or from the additional information on it – for example, there were cards released at D23, Disney's annual conference, which contain a D23 logo instead. If it has something other than the symbols above, it is likely to be a promo card. These can come from a number of sources – competitions, product launches, events, even the cinema!
Foil Cards
For the cards available, you can also find foil versions of them, which are slightly harder to find. Often a full collection will want a standard and a foil version of the cards, in order to have every card available. The cards are exactly the same, but with a nicer foil effect over the top of them.
Disney Lorcana Chase Cards – The Lorcana Cards worth the most
Although Enchanted and promotional cards can be the rarest, not all cards are equally sought after. We regularly see that more beautiful cards become the chase card for collectors, and these tend to be worth more money as a result, as demand is higher. That's exactly the same for more sought after characters too, as the less popular Disney Characters on Enchanted cards are wanted mostly to complete a set, rather than as a priority.
Other popular cards include those that are particularly powerful in competitive play – Diablo for example saw a huge surge when released, as it offered fantastic abilities, similar to Bucky pre-erata. These can be harder to identify on sight, but you can keep an eye on either price trackers, or groups and sites that monitor card usage.
