Who Are Goliath Games?

2025 is a massive year for The Sims franchise, with the video game celebrating its 25th anniversary. Electronic Arts, who own the rights to the digital title alongside franchises like Battlefield, Apex Legends and EA Sports, has plenty of plans to mark the occasion, and one of them sees the company move closer to the tabletop industry. With the announcement coming at New York Toy Fair, fans were thrilled to hear that a board game was being made focused on the simulation brand.

EA has partnered with Goliath Games for the project, a trusted name. The company, which was founded in 1980, has a hand in both the toy and tabletop space. Although it serves as a retailer for pre-existing products, it has also developed and published some particularly iconic titles. Rummikub, Wordsearch, and Robofish are just a couple of examples published under the Goliath brand. Goliath also teamed up with Funko to distribute a range of titles, alongside acquiring studios like Lucky Duck Games.

This collaboration with EA appears to be one of the largest for Goliath Games to date. The CEO at Goliath, Jochanan Golad, said “We’re honoured to be selected as a partner to create the first-ever board game for The Sims. It’s an incredible opportunity to collaborate with EA to bring a new innovative way to live The Sims. This partnership represents a perfect blend of Goliath’s expertise in creating engaging physical games and The Sims’ legacy as a multi-generational cultural and gaming icon.”

What Do We Know About The Sims Board Game?

Very little is known about The Sims board game though, aside from its existence. The announcement at New York Toy Fair didn’t prominently feature any details concerning the gameplay mechanics, or how the title would function. The statement suggested that the play system would be unique and immersive, and attempt to replicate the feeling the digital alternative provides, while transforming your game nights

A leak via Reddit, prior to the official announcement of the game, appears to be accurate, based on the confirmation that Goliath would be involved in its production. The post suggested that players would be creating their own characters, meeting iconic Sims, building relationships, and heading towards life aspirations. The leak also offered an initial look at the board design itself, with the hexagonal structure perfectly suited for 2 to 4 players. This leak also suggests that the title is accessible for ages 8 and up.

However, we're expecting now that it's announced, more details will become available imminently.

When Will The Sims Board Game Be Released?

EA and Goliath Games confirmed that The Sims board game will be released in the Fall of 2025, with players likely engrossed in the game throughout the Winter months. They also announced that the title will be stocked at all major retailers, so your local hobby store and larger toy shops will likely host the game in the UK. Consumers can also purchase The Sims board game via the official Goliath Games website.

Further details concerning the mechanics of the game and its specific release date will be confirmed closer to the time of launch. However, this new partnership does raise the question of whether EA will be working with Goliath Games on producing titles for some of their other major intellectual properties – will we see even more on the horizon?
