Game Night, a comedy movie about board games, will star Spotlight’s Rachel McAdams and Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman

It looks like the The Rock-starring remake of Jumanji won’t be the only major board games movie hitting screens in the next few years, as two major Hollywood stars have signed on for a new film based on the age-old tradition of holding a games night.

Rachel McAdams, known for her roles in Mean Girls and Sherlock Holmes, as well as the more recent Doctor Strange and the lauded Spotlight, will team up with Jason Bateman of Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses and Zootopia fame to star in the does-what-says-on-the-tin-titled Game Night, according to Variety.

Game Night has actually been floating around the desks of Hollywood execs since 2013, and is currently in hands of Vacation directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who also co-wrote Horrible Bosses and the upcoming comic book reboot, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

As you might expect, the comedy will focus on a group of couples who get together for their regular night of tabletop fun only for various mishaps and antics to occur.

Given the mainstream aim of the film, we’re expecting references to Monopoly and Cards Against Humanity, rather than Twilight Imperium and Diplomacy.

There’s no solid release date for the film, but it’s likely to finally pop up in the next year or two. Expect our take on the movie when it’s out here in the UK…
