Hachette Boardgames have been growing hugely over the last few years, and this new partnership with Edition Spielwiese is yet another huge step.
Board Game distribution is complex – it requires a high level of logistics and agreements, an understanding of relevant international requirements, and even various restrictions. There are multiple distributors for board games, but Hachette Boardgames UK have been carving out their space in the market, by bringing us a huge number of games we wouldn't previously have had access to. It's an exciting step therefore, that they have entered into a partnership with Edition Spielwiese. This means that current titles, and indeed future titles will be available easily through the established network that Hachette represents.
Who are Edition Spielwiese?
If you don't recognise their name, you'll probably recognise their games. From the award winning MicroMacro, to Uwe Rosenberg's Puzzle Trilogy, it's a publisher of great games that we've been bringing to our table since its foundation in 2016.
Michael Schmitt, founder of Edition Spielwiese, has said of the partnership “After working with Hachette's subsidiary BlackRock as my international partner in France, I am now even more pleased to become a bigger part of the Hachette family.”
Hachette Boardgames bring us MicroMacro
The distribution deal means we can see even more of our favourites. MicroMacro is a well-loved game that sees you pouring over a detailed poster of cartoon art in order to solve the puzzles and crimes hidden within it. It won a Spiel Des Jahres, so it's exciting to see that this deal will give us access to further MicroMacro titles – initially with MicroMacro Jigsaw: The Funfair (given the name, we're expecting a puzzle version that once completed, will allow for mini games), and then later in 2025 there'll be additional games too.
Across 2025 more games will fall under Hachette's distribution, but excitingly we'll see NEW games too. Generally, partnerships of this nature mean that we get better access to titles, which Hachette's distribution in both the US and UK supports. We've been promised 'yet-to-be-announced' games.
Rob Trounce, Marketing Manager of Hachette Boardgames UK has said “Edition Spielewiese are a publisher of the highest calibre, and we are beyond proud to have them (and their amazing titles!) join our catalogue of family-friendly games for UK audiences. Our mission is to get more games on UK tables, and Edition Spielwiese’s amazing titles will make that goal ever more achievable.”
We look forward to seeing the games!
