Games including Magic: The Gathering and Monopoly to star alongside toys such as Transformers and Nerf
Hasbro has unveiled plans for HasCon, the board game and toy giant’s inaugural ‘fan and family’ convention set for next year.
The three-day event will take place from September 8th to 10th and feature some of the company’s tabletop franchises – Magic: The Gathering and Monopoly are specifically named – alongside many of its iconic toy brands, such as Transformers, My Little Pony, Nerf and Play-Doh.
According to Hasbro, HasCon will focus on the storytelling aspects of Hasbro’s creations through a variety of stage performances, celebrity and ‘creative talent’ meet-and-greets, previews of upcoming TV shows and movies, and the chance to buy limited edition products exclusive to the show.
What’s interesting to note is that the show appears to be concentrated on Hasbro’s original IP, rather than the various licences it holds – including Star Wars, which has its own annual convention. What it means for the firm’s presence at other conventions, such as Comic Con, also remains to be seen.
HasCon will be held in the US city of Providence at the Rhode Island Convention Centre and Dunkin Donuts Centre, with pricing and ticket details yet to be confirmed.
