Sushi Go creator Phil Walker-Harding reveals set will add eight new monuments
Although the mystery and mystique of ancient Egypt never really goes out of fashion, it seems to be going through somewhat of a resurgence at the moment, with Magic: The Gathering’s latest addition Amonkhet and classic horror movie The Mummy getting a Tom Cruise-starring reboot in cinemas both within the past couple of months.
That makes the news of a new expansion for Imhotep, the 2016 Spiel des Jahres-nominated game about building monuments in ancient Egypt from Sushi Go creator Phil Walker-Harding, particularly timely – although we’d welcome more of the pretty little game anytime.
Subtitled A New Dynasty, the first major add-on for the game adds eight new structures for players to build block-by-block, as well as five location boards, seven god cards and other cards and components.
It sounds like the new set won’t change the core gameplay drastically, with players transporting cubes around, loading them onto boats and eventually adding them to their construction.
Walker-Harding said on Twitter that A New Dynasty is planned for release at Essen in October.
The RRP will be €19.99 (£17), so you can expect around a £20 price tag here in the UK.
