Mirkwood beckons us with eight legs
Fantasy Flight have announced a new expansion for Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth called Shadowed Path.
Providing players with 20 new journey tiles, including the dangerously spider-infested Mirkwood – and eventually the abandoned halls of Moria. For those of us who know a little bit of Tolkien, we know what that means. That’s right, monsters.
The box comes with 25 new enemy miniatures included the previously mentioned poisonous spiders of Mirkwood, some local orcs as well as the animated undead in the form of skeleton warriors.
Of course, a trip through Moria would not be the same without introducing the Balrog. While it’s not clear whether players will be asked to play the role of wizard-bouncer-on-a-perilous-bridge, but given the chance, we suspect that this is something that players shall not pass up on.
This new adventure set within Middle-earth see our party expanding too. The aforementioned Gandalf miniature joins the adventure as does Arwen, who plays a mixed healer/fighter character. Other characters include Eleanor, Balin and Dis.
The box and app also offers further branching paths to what is already a huge game, making your next playthrough of for Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth even more epic.
The expansion is slated to come to retail Q2 2020.
