*Waves Hand* This is the game you're looking for
It wouldn’t be May the 4th without loads of new Star Wars announcements and merchandise, from the end of The Clone Wars (did anyone else well up?) to the new theatrical release director announced, and everything in between. It's no exaggeration to say that May the 4th is a great day to be a Star Wars fan.
Following that swiftly with Revenge of the 5th then, and it’s time for the tabletop to take centre stage. The Op (Usaopoly) in collaboration with Games Workshop, has announced a Star Wars Edition of Talisman.
This isn’t the first special edition of Talisman, as The Op has also previously created a Disney Kingdom Hearts edition, and a Batman Super Villains edition, that you may be familiar with.
Games Workshop brought Talisman back in 2018 and has seen a whole slew of spin offs, including a kid's version.
The game will be a roll-and-move adventure, and you can play as either the Jedi or the Sith. There’ll be up to 12 playable characters, though only a few have been revealed so far, of which we have Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Rey, Kylo Ren, Count Dooku, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, each with custom sculpted game pieces.
The board artwork also shows Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and potentially Bariss Offee too, so there’s a likelihood we’ll see their figures within the game also.
Whilst the race is on to reach Palpatine, it’s interesting to see the characters seemingly across the Skywalker Saga – it’s not as if Obi-Wan could have interacted with Kylo Ren within canon, but doing so should allow fans of all eras of the series to take part.
The release date is set for Autumn 2020, and is currently available for pre-order. The Op has confirmed it will be released in European countries, but costing at the moment is shown at $69.99 over on The Op’s site. It’s for 2-6 players over the age of 13, with a play time of 90-120 minutes.
