Experience Symbaroum in a whole new way, with their exciting new team-up with Steamforged Games' Epic Encounters range – and take your RPG experience to a whole new level.
What is Symbaroum?
Fans may already be firmly familiar with Symbaroum, a fantasy roleplaying game published by Free League Publishing and initially developed by Järnringen. The title has experienced great success, with players exploring the Forest of Davokar and uncovering the secrets that are hidden there. The tabletop RPG is twisted and dark, with ‘The Throne of Thorns’ becoming its key narrative. There’s plenty of room for reinvention and custom one-shots, as Game Masters and campaign parties come together to craft their own story within this shadowy world.
Players may have already purchased both the core ruleset and the starter pack, which will have launched them on their journey. But there’s so much room for this franchise to expand, and indeed this latest piece of news promises a brand new adventure.

Free League Publishing has teamed up with Steamforged for an exciting new product, which is part of the established Epic Encounters RPG run. Titled ‘Ruins of Symbaroum,’ this latest offering from Steamforged is available to pre order right now and is compatible with 5E rules. With miniatures, maps and more, first-time fans and those familiar with the brand are sure to be intrigued by the latest kit.
What Are Epic Encounters?
For those who aren’t aware, Epic Encounters are a pre-established range from Steamforged, which have incorporated plenty of other RPGs. The concept is very simple. These all-in-one boxes give players an opportunity to interact with a single narrative, which are always compatible with 5E rules, and are inspired by stories and worlds that have been built up via prior RPG rulebooks.
While these boxes have helped to create new campaigns, they can also be slotted very easily into existing runs, giving players a huge amount of customisation opportunities. These boxes contain miniatures, maps, narrative prompts, game mats, stats, and tips for Game Masters to make the most of the kits.
‘Ruins of Symbaroum’ will be no different, and will join a line-up that includes Warband Boxes like ‘Palace of the Drow Queen,’ and ‘Rage of the Gnoll Warseeker,’ alongside Boss Boxes such as ‘Lair of the Drider.’
What To Expect
Players can pre-order two separate kits right now, from the Epic Encounters line. ‘The Gem in the Barrow’ retails at £59.99 and has been given the following description:
“Your players will compete against rival factions (or even join forces with them) as they seek to claim a mysterious, heart-sized gemstone from an ancient barrow. The extent of its powers are unknown, but the allure of its magic endures. Will the heroes unravel the secrets of the gem without being caught in the crossfire between the groups vying to control it?”
‘The Corrupted Coloss’ is also available for £49.99, and has been given the following overview:
“Ambria is a kingdom built on ruins thick with memories. And at the centre—vast, impenetrable, and wreathed in its own mysteries—is the Forest of Davokar. How will your players confront the titanic Coloss? Will they destroy it, or attempt to drag it back from the grip of corruption? No matter what they choose, their path will be fraught with peril, but the sacrifices they make could save many innocent lives.”
Both come with campaign books, miniatures, maps, tokens, and the inspiration you need to craft a brand new RPG campaign set in Symbaroum.
