Renegade Studios gets green fingered
Following on from last year’s glut of gardening games (Ishtar, Queenz) Renegade Studios is set to offer us a straight up gardening game in the form of Succulent.
Designed by J. Alex Kevern, most well known for Gold West, a game about building a mining empire as a frontiersman and managing your supply routes, Succulent looks like a more chilled out affair.
In Succulent, players are competing, through the much-loved method of laying tiles, to create the most lucrative gardening project. Collect cuttings, water crystals and so on to generate the engine that will power your succulent garden, and send you to new heights of renowned amongst the horticulturalist community.
Kevern’s other games include Passing Through Petra and ArtSee.
Succulent is, as all game of the garden tending genre tend to be, delicious looking. With art by Anna Daviscourt the game also features cut-out tiles, which allow players to carefully arrange their tiles to show the plants beneath.
The game is designed for 2-4 gardens with a 45-60 minute play time. As with a lot of games like this, the beauty is likely to be a mask atop an entirely ruthless pruning and point taking game, and we can’t wait to get it to the potting shed.
The game is slated for a May 2020 release.
