Stefan Feld’s The Castles of Burgundy is rolling its way into the digital world today.

The app of the designer’s Spiel des Jahres Recommended dice-rolling, tile-placing hit has launched for mobile and PC via iOS, Android and Steam.

Developed by Agricola, Patchwork and Terra Mystica app maker Digidiced, the virtual version comes with both solo play against computer AI and both local and online multiplayer options.

The online modes allow for cross-platform matches between all three platforms, as well as the ability to play with asynchronous turns that pop up notifications to remind you when it’s your go.

If you reckon you’re among the best in the world, you can prove it up climbing up the app’s globally ranked multiplayer mode, which is based on the Glicko rating system used at the competitive level in games such as chess and Go.

On the other end of the scale, there’s an interactive tutorial for newcomers to the game, plus the chance to watch replays of experienced players – or your own matches – to analyse strategies and moves.

The Castles of Burgundy is live on the iOS App Store, Google Play and Steam now – it costs £9 on mobile, and is currently discounted from £11 to £8 on PC as part of a launch promotion that runs until March 6th.
