Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Munchkin will let you kill, loot and laugh in the Eight Realms

After bringing its comic chaos to the grimdark sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40,000, Steve Jackson’s slay-and-steal card game Munchkin is headed to the fantasy realms of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

Munchkin: Warhammer – Age of Sigmar is due out later this year from Steve Jackson Games, and is once again based on the long-running and much-spun-out card game parody of RPG dungeon-crawlers.

Players race to defeat enemies and loot treasure, gaining experience and items to carve their way through more and more monsters – and wipe out any of their opponents in their way.

Returning to lend his distinctive art style to Munchkin’s take on the Eight Realms of Age of Sigmar is illustrator John Kovalic, while the rules have been developed from Steve Jackson’s original gameplay by designer Andrew Hackard – the same creative duo behind Munchkin: Warhammer 40,000, which came out in the UK last week.

The Age of Sigmar Munchkin set can be played as a standalone game or combined with the Warhammer 40,000 box and its expansions to cross over characters, items and enemies between the two with full compatibility.

Munchkin: Warhammer – Age of Sigmar will be released in a deluxe edition in ‘late 2019’, with plans for two expansions to follow in 2020, each including 112 additional cards.

The core set will include 168 cards, plus a board, die and standees, for $30 in the US – so expect an RRP of around £29 here in the UK.
