Weekly Kickstarter Round Up: Wednesday 30th September

30 September 2020

It's Kickstarter Wednesday!

We took a brief break last week to focus on Virtual Tabletop Gaming Live, our huge celebration of tabletop gaming full of curated videos. If you missed it, there's you can still find some of the videos on our Youtube channel, or even check out straight away our very-serious-and-not-at-all-made-up award show!

For Kickstarters though, it does mean we've got EVEN MORE to pick from this week, making it a bumper issue/post for you to check out. So, hold on to your hats, here are some of the cool looking Kickstarters from the last week and a bit in no particular order.

Return to Planet Apocalypse

This is another Sandy Petersen (writer of Call of Cthulhu, designer of Doom, Doom 2, and Quake- what a phenomenal CV!) game, which means you can rely on the fact there'll be huge worlds and epic monsters, but not only is there another game, but also a D&D 5E sourcebook option to bring the RPG to your tabletop. Oh, and a second print of the original game, plus miniatures and more.

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? There's a lot of variation, but for one Hell if you already have the core game, it's $69 (about £54)

When does it end? October 6th 2020

Where is it? Attempt if you dare!

You can also see Chris unbox the original on YouTube/Twitch!

Hogs of War The Miniatures Games

Dinosaur World and Dinosaur Island: Rawr and Write

We were fortunate enough to hear from the designers of these dinosaur-based games as part of Virtual Tabletop Gaming Live, so you can check the video out here - with our poll determining the Triceratops to be the best dinosaur out there! Within these games though, you'll see a new venture into the Dinosaur Island Universe, with a new game and a new roll and write based on creating a park and it's inevitable health and safety hazards...

Is it funded? Tes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? For both, $95 (about £75)

When does it end? October 17th 2020

Where is it? Find your way with Pandasaurus

Night Parade of Hundred Yokai

The initial attraction to this game is the rather impressive looking meeples, but with an explanation that refers to raising an army of supernatural beings to haunt the islands of Japan, there's more to it than just the meeples!

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? $50 (About £39)

When does it end? October 15th 2020

Where is it? Find your meeples (and game behind it!) over on Kickstarter

Machina Arcana

There's an instinct after Cthulhu to take a second look at anything with tentacles, and that's what Machina Arcana draws you in with - but what you're playing will see you face cosmic horrors and fight for your survival in this horror game! It's a little Cthulhu meets Steampunk, with self-contained scenarios.

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? $60 (£47 for the core game)

When does it end? October 15th 2020

Where is it? Head into the horror unknown!

Terrors and Tommyguns: A Cosmic Horror Noir RPG

This cosmic horror noir sees monsters and titular Terrors back in the 1920s, by Nick Porter and Dominic de Duonni. You may play as a hardened detective, mixing supernatural jobs with the mundane ones, or lured by the Old Gods by power in exchange for loyalty (and sanity), or many others, in a path that won't be easy....

As a bonus, the creators of Terrors and Tommyguns spoke about RPG design at Virtual Tabletop Gaming Live, which you can watch here!

Is it funded? No

What’s the pledge to get a copy? $49 for a physical copy (about £39)

When does it end? October 28th 2020

Where is it? Polish off that accent (you know the one!) and find Terrors and Tommyguns on Kickstarter

The Thing

The inspiration to many a horror game/film/novel/media, and now it's a full board game. Based on the 1982 film The Thing, this is an official board game for 1-8 players. Keeping all of the original paranoia intact, you'll be questioning who is really on your side...

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? €79 (about £73)

When does it end? October 14th 2020

Where is it? THE THING: is all I need say

The 7th Citadel

We reviewed The 7th Continent: Classic addition back in Issue 46, where we indeed called it a classic, and now we're looking at the 7th Citadel, a new exploration game set in a post-apocalyptic medieval fantasy world from the same designers. If it's anything like the first, this is a great one to take a look at.

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? €69 (about £63)

When does it end? October 15th

Where is it? Begin your exploration of the collapsing lands!

Shaolia

This is a two in one option, as it's a second print if you missed the first, AND the option for expansion. Shaolia is a "dueling game of fantasy kingdom building", running at 45 minutes as a head to head game. This a fight for the title of emperor, and of course, you want to win!

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? $25 for the first expansion, (about £20), or $56 for the base game (£44)

When does it end? October 23rd 2020

Where is it? Fight your way to become Emperor

Ice Dice

An accessory is always welcome, and as a self-confessed dice fan, the logic of an ice dice mould for game nights is somewhat enticing. Or, as they say, 'cooler', in a great play on words.

Is it funded? Yes

What’s the pledge to get a copy? $40 (Approximately £31)

When does it end? October 22nd 2020

Where is it? The coolest dice around

Leather and Gold D&D Campaign Journals

It's great to have great accessories, and these really look like they fall into that category. Crow and Crown have a Kickstarter for a vegan leather campaign journal with character sheets, equipment pages, dotted, plain, and lined pages for notes. Plus - they look GREAT!

Is it funded? Nearly!

What’s the pledge to get a copy? £24 for a full version, £6 for a slimline paperbound version

When does it end? October 10th 2020

Where is it? Get your next RPG journal here!
