Just like any other old town fixture, Eidenbery House is home to its very own ghost stories, all stemming from the murder that took place there over a century ago. It’s a tragic tale of a robbery gone wrong, ending in the deaths of all four of the Eidenberys. It’s said that the youngest died first — Henry Eidenbery, no older than one, smothered to death in his crib. The daughter, Jane, was next to go, having happened on the scene by chance. Her scream drew her parents, Thomas and Victoria, who died one after the other at the hands of the intruder. And then, perhaps most chilling of all, the murderer’s body was found on the house’s doorstep, just one month after the murders took place.
