Uhuru is a multi-player card game that centres around approaches to tackling wicked problems in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is a fun way to discover the subsequent trade-offs between the State, Market and Civil Societies. The game plays out in a fictional country in Africa called Uhuru, and starts in 2015 - the year the SDGs were introduced. Each round the game advances with four years. After six rounds the year 2030 is reached and the game ends. The game is played in teams of six players. The game illustrates that although sector focussed developmental decisions are rewarding in the short term, joint cooperation leads to a winning situation for all stakeholders in the long run. The card game is currently being made online in 2022 as a trial. It will ultimately be moved to its own digital platform in 2023.
